I couldn't agree more. Coudal Partners might like to add "apologist" to their resume.

Let me respond with 10 (I could have listed more!) reasons why we SHOULDN'T love this disgusting, overpriced 5-minute worthless garbage:

1) It says nothing about London (other than the Comic-sans reproduction of the word).
2) It says nothing about the Olympics (as you rightly pointed out, take out the rings and this logo stands for?)
3) It fails the most basic of logo design, in that it is not instantly recognisable (listen to the amount of people complaining that they didn't realise the shapes were supposed to resemble 2012). ZOR anyone?
4) The colour? These colours DID NOT look good, even in the 1980's. They may remind us of the 80's, but they still suck HARD.
5) The jagged, broken look says what about the London Olympics?
6) Whereas it may RESEMBLE graffiti, it isn't. Young people will see this as patronising and could alienate the very people it is supposed to connect with.
7) It is plain ugly. When reproduced more than 10% of the screen size it actually causes the eye to look away. Logos should DRAW the eye.
8) The 2's are completely different, thus reinforcing the ZOR problem, and the 0 is a pretty good cubism representation of Australia. Great if your advertising Sydney, not so great for London.
9) Lisa Simpson on her knees? Really. Did NO ONE see this before major release?
10) This pathetic attempt was created by Wolff Olins, who describe themselves as "the world's most influential brand business" at a cost of £400,000. Sorry, but £400,000 should deliver more than something that looks like it was scribbled on the back of a napkin, and it should look like it was designed using the foremost tools in the industry - not cheap fluorescent pens...

Couldn't agree more. I can't understand what these people are complaining about. So you have to generate a username and password, and yes, it may be ugly because Yahoo's been around forever.

If that's the only trade off, so far, to the cash flow that Flickr receives from yahoo to increase bandwidth, and development costs, then these people are should count themselves as lucky.

And why the total backlash against Yahoo! I mean, I'm not a yahoo apologist, but I've never gotten upset with Yahoo over their treatment of me as a user either. What do these people think Yahoo! is going to do, come into their homes and steal their rare Dave Gibbons, comic collections? Get a grip people.

[...] Since March I’ve received a lot of feedback regarding my cleaned up version of the Gimp’s recording of ‘Supernothing.’ (In case you’re not familiar with what I’m talking about, take a look at this post here.) In fact the .mp3 file generates the majority of the traffic that this site receives. So much so that I needed to up my hosting plan. I don’t mind though. As a Streetlight Manifesto fan I’m just glad to be contributing and helping other people enjoy their music as much as I do. I’m really glad people are grateful for the work I did and I really appreciate the comments and messages regarding it. Most of which come from people from Skachilles (the official unofficial Streetlight Manifesto message board.) [...]

All I can say is after spendin a day on the net tryin to find Smiles for Macavity on either tape ( as in for sale) or to be downloaded i'm left totally confused (mostly because i cnat understand torrents even tho they hyave been explained many times to me) and in my personal opion after hearin supernothing i think you should re-master the entire album and let it be downloaded on ur site :D. Let me know if u do cos i really want the album to finish off my Kalnoky Kollection.

And finish by saying try listenin to Alone in the crowd again and u'll find its an amazing album! and that the orginal supernothing is not emo in anyway and to say it is, is an insult for the Ska roots that Mr. Kalnoky believes in.

i thank u

John,
I understand your frustration but if you'd gone into manhattan, what could you have done? Where could you have helped out? That day you would have just been one more body in the way of first responders and rescue workers. I know being helpless is a terrible feeling, but its something that we all have to feel and accept at one point or another. We all should have done something.. but that something should have come after rather than during. You also forget that the NYC subway/bus and bridge system was shut down for most of the day after those planes hit, so unless you planned on running and then swimming, you were pretty much stuck. So when all else fails, it never hurts to be well informed.

All I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't feel guilty for not doing anything, because in all reality there wasn't much you could do. There wasn't much anyone could do. I myself couldn't believe it was 5 years later. I too had class that day, and i went not believing what was happening... If I'd had more than one that day, I'd have said fuck it too...

I want to type more, but I have to go back to work. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on at some point in time.

Stay strong john,
Chris
