Hello friends and welcome to Focal Points the new urban photo blog from myself (John Morrison) and Subism Studios. Each week I’ll be sharing photos from around the city usually focusing on the urban landscape of Chicago.
I decided to kick off this blog with something very near and dear to my heart:
Journey the The End of the Night.
For those unfamiliar:
Journey to the End of the Night is a free street game of epic proportion, presented in Chicago by CGØ for the third year running. Players will try to make it through a series of checkpoints, while avoiding being caught by chasers. Those who fall will become chasers themselves, rising to pursue their former friends and allies. No skates, no bikes, no cars, no buses, just your feet and the good old Elevated Train.
The intention is to get together with a large group of people and have a good time running around in the city and seeing it in ways you never have before. I took part in it last year with some friends and had an amazing time. So needless to say I couldn’t wait to do it again this year.
I figured this would be a great launch topic for this blog as the photos from it are very indicative of my tastes and some of what you’ll see going forward here on focal points. Because of the large number of photos I’ve decided to split it between two entries. On Friday I’ll be posting my account of the experience and those who participated with me along with the remaining photographs. Until then enjoy the first 18!
